I live and work in Houston and New York. I studied music theory and composition under Lewis Spratlan at Amherst College. I have played the oboe since I was 9, studying with Yvonne Powers, Bobby Taylor and Fred Cohen. My art practice began in 1996 with oil crayons and small papier-mâché sculptures. Since 2005, I have taken classes at Hunter College and the Art Students League studying painting, installation, drawing and art history with Jeffrey Mongrain and others. My work has been shown in solo and group shows in New York and Berlin, and I have placed pieces in private and public collections in the USA and Europe. In addition to working as an artist and a musician, I am active in scientific marketing with my company, Stearman Communications. |
